On gravel roads and forest paths, we make a sweaty ascent to the rock labyrinth of the "Stone City" at the Sella Pass and a fun descent on gravel, cart paths and trails. At the top we are rewarded with a unique panorama.

The tour takes us over an often steep gravel road past Plan de Gralba and later on a path up to the Sella Pass, which is physically demanding. On a flatter ascending cart track we continue through the "Stone City". This rocky outcrop at the foot of the Sassolungo in the middle of an alpine meadow entices us with its fantastic view of the Sassolungo and Sella groups. Passing the Rifugio Comici, we ride back down to Selva Gardena on gravel paths and flowing trails.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the tourist information office in Selva Gardena, after a short stretch on the main road, we cross the old railway line and continue out of town on a tarred cycle path. On a gravel road we go up from the end of the village to the Sella Pass road and from here to Plan de Gralba (1800 m). At the car park, we turn onto trail 657 and ride uphill on a steep gravel road. This becomes a trail in flatter terrain again and leads us via the Sella Alm (2210 m) to the Sellajoch-Haus (2179 m) (refreshments available). Here we pass by and to the valley station of the cable car. On trail 526, which starts as a cart track and later becomes a beautiful, flowing trail, we go through the "Stone City" below the Sassolungo over to the Rifugio Comici (2154 m). Here we can take a refreshing break. Trail 21a now leads us over a beautiful, but briefly steep and rough cart track and short trail sections back down to the outskirts of Selva Gardena. Here we enjoy a very nice last piece of trail on trail 30b.
