Ask any of the locals, and they might let you in on their favourite insider tip: a lovely, historical trail which crosses forests and meadows. Get ready for a beautiful walk and a somewhat mystical experience. The delightful scent of flowers and mesmerising birdsong will accompany you for 5 km as you explore the lush, untouched nature: the dappled sunlight washes over the moss-covered forest, creating a pleasant ambience and tableau to be admired.

Turn-by-turn directions

The starting point of the hike is the last houses of Vico di Fuori in Ortisei, accessible along the via Mureda or via Nevel. The path marked with the letter "P" enters in a mysterious forest, winds over a terrain step and runs high above the Pontives valley, fairly level towards the west. After about two hours you reach the Pedrutscherhof farm and after another 30 minutes you arrive in St. Peter/Lajen. The public bus is recommended for the way back.

Accessible with line 350 from Bozen or Brixen to S. Antonious square in Ortisei.

By road

The last houses of Vico di Fuori in Ortisei. (End of the Mureda and the Nevel Street)

Possibility to park in the parking house Central or at the valley station of the Seceda or Alpe di Siusi cable car.
